Bayer CropScience has signed a long-term licensing deal for the use of genes expressing harpin proteins against a broad spectrum of pests and diseases in oilseed rape.The agreement has been sealed with the UK bioproducts company,Plant Health Care(PHC-London).PHC will receive an agreed schedule of payments,but.no financial details have been disclosed.The deal covers all regions except Canada,Mexico and the US."Another company has the rights to the NAFA area,following a deal with Eden BioScience,when it owned the rights to harpin,"PHC.told Agrow.The US EPA classifies the proteins as biochemical pesticides.
