US steel maker Allegheny Technologies Inc (ATI) posted a Q1 net loss of $101 M (?89.3 M), comparedwith year-ago earnings of $10 M. Sales revenue was 32.4% lower at $757 M.The loss included $26 M of costs, mostly in the flat-rolled products (FRP) segment, associated with a longrunningwork stoppage and then the return to work by striking workers following ratification in March of afour-year labour agreement. The dispute caused operating inefficiencies and additional disruption duringtransition from a temporary workforce to return of the USW union-represented employees.
