Since Messe Dusseldorf moved to its current location-north of the city, near the airport-nearly 50 years ago, the venue has gone through more than a few changes, expansions, and upgrades, and more are in store. While upgrades always preserve two hallmarks of the venue, easy navigation and an attractive appearance, none of the previous upgrades have been as striking and transformative as a project that was initiated last fall. In a press statement released late in 2017, Werner M. Dornscheidt, CEO of Messe Dusseldorf, explained the goal: "the complete modernization and renewal of the premises at our home base-and, as always, without subsidies."
