In the four and a half decades since Lin KunTe established Samson Machinery Inc. in 1975, the company has developed into a leading designer and manufacturer of tyre building machinery. The Hsinchu, Taiwan-based company's remit today is to assist tyre factories around the world to produce tyres that perform well, whether they be bicycle, two-wheel, car, truck, industrial, agricultural, OTR or even aircraft tyres. Customers can either order from a range of available models or work together with Samson Machinery to develop equipment that is tailor-made to meet their own demands. While many manufacturers of passenger car radials select single-stage tyre building machines in order to benefit from the high levels of productivity this configuration offers, Samson Machinery recommends two-stage tyre building machines as a better choice for the manufacture of low profile tyres as they allow greater control over product quality. The conventional format for two-stage TBMs is a semi-automatic design, however Samson notes that production efficiency is sacrificed for better quality control when choosing a semi-auto-matic machine. In order to avoid this compromise, Samson Machinery has developed an automatic two-stage tyre building machine, the SL+EP. This unit enables plants to automatically produce different types of high performance radial tyres. Meanwhile, Samson says it also receives a great deal of very positive feedback from customers about its band tyre building machines. The band building method can be used to make single bead, dual bead, and even triple bead cross-ply tyres, and reduces cycle times. Samson's patented omni rollers aid the easy transfer of bands on the drum. The manufacturer says its band machines offer high productivity and easy operation, as well as a high quality finished product.
