Germany - "The EUR500bn Merkel & Macron initiative to relieve the risk of recession is a welcoming sign," stated Andreas Renschler, CEO of the Traton Group in a three to four minute webinar address on May 25, about actions being taken at the Traton Group to move forward. "Besides dealing with the crisis and lack of demand, we must set the course for the time after the crisis. There will be a world after Corona, and so we must take action," he stressed. "This means creating conditions for more products, more efficient collaboration and future innovations at Traton. Above all we are pushing the electrification of our portfolio. MAN's eTGE has been available since 2018. Scania and MAN have expanded our tests of fully electric distribution trucks and city buses. This year the first MAN electric Lions City buses will be rolling through European cities. Also the new MAN Truck Generation will be electric. Our Volkswagen colleagues in Latin America underline our systematic approach in e-mobility. Together with partners we are developing a complete network in Brazil covering all aspects of electric trucks from production to charging infrastructure as well as full lifecycle management of the batteries. We consider battery electric vehicles as mainstream for trucks and buses in the future. That is why we are continuing to invest in electrified solutions and it won't be long until we reach a tipping point where electric vehicles generally become a profitable investment for our customers."
