摘要

What do geohazards, urban development and groundwater have in common? They are all based on geology – and they have a direct impact on people. But there exists one fundamental problem: The public is basically not really interested in geology! Therefore, it mostly does not recognise the relation between the geologic reason of an incident and the often dramatic consequences it has to bear. Even worse, on the executive level many times the necessary knowledge how to handle actual challenges to make decisions on a regional scale is lacking and the adequate tools are not available.
