You have missed the target completely [Editor's note: referring to "Too much supply or too little demand?" in the October 2013 issue of dvm360]. The real problem is over-competition for veterinary services. In my area, there are many 501(c)(3) organizations rescuing cats and dogs; they receive thousands of dollars of contributions to continue their "work," which includes giving FVRCP vaccinations for cats and dispensing "vouchers" for $30 cat neuters and $40 cat spays. If I don't take the vouchers, the biz goes down the road to the first vet who does. Of course, we are losing money on this. And I get no charitable contributions for my veterinary hospital.
