Outstanding properties will make Movento~R an unique insecticide for the control of sucking insect pests in agriculture: Its two-way systemicity allows translocation via xylem and phloem and results in long-lasting control also of hidden pests. Optimized formulation systems such as oil dispersions and adjuvanted suspension concentrates allowed to realize the full biological potential of Movento under field conditions. Exerting a new mode of action for aphids, scales and mealy bugs, the product will be an outstanding tool for the control of insecticide-resistant pests. No or moderate effects on beneficial arthropods will make Movento the product of choice for modern IPM systems. The global field development of Movento is described using vegetables and fruits as examples, including the development of different formulation concepts in pome fruit. The spectrum of efficacy is exemplified in vegetables with Bemisia tabaci, Trialeurodes vaporariorum, Aphis gossypii, Myzus persicae and Bre-vicoryne brassicae, in pome and stone fruit with Dysaphis plantaginea, Aphis pomi, Myzus persicae, Brachycaudus he-lichrysi, Eriosoma lanigerum, Lepido-saphes ulmi, Quadraspidiotus pernicio-sus, Pseudaulacaspis pentagona, in kiwi fruit with Hemiberlesia sp. and in strawberries with Rhodobium porosum and Macrosiphum euphorbiae. Minor indications such as diptera Dasi-neura sp. in pome and Rhagoletis cerasi in stone fruit are under development. Side effects against Cydia pomonella and mite species such as Panonychus ulmihave been observed. Movento has been submitted for registration in 69 countries worldwide. Movento has been successfully registered and launched in the USA, Canada, Austria, New Zealand, Morocco, Turkey and Tunisia in 2008. Launches are anticipated for Brazil, South Africa, The Netherlands, and Mexico in 2009, for India, Germany and China in 2010 and for the remaining European countries as well as Pakistan and Japan in 2011 and later.
