To study the response of Spodoptera titura, on Bt cotton hybrids, constructed life tables in controlled conditions (24±1°C, 70±5% R.H.), The age specific life-table of S. litura on Bt-! I hybrids showed maximum mortality compared to larvae fed on Bt-I hybrids. The life parameter of the S.liaira was negatively affected by Bt-II hybrids. Net reproductive rate (R_o) on Bt-II hybrids recorded was least i.e., 31.04 to 81.84, compared to Bt-I hybrids. Mean generation time was higher on Bt-II hybrids 57.86 days in RCH-2 Bt-II and lowest was recorded on Bt-I hybrids. Lowest intrinsic rate of increase (r_m) was recorded in Bt-II hybrids and highest (r_m) on Bt-I hybrids. Insect could double its numbers around 6 days in Bt-I and around 8 days in Bt-II hybrids. Lowest weekly multiplication rate (VVMR) of 1.51 times was recorded in RCH-134 Bt-II. The Stable age distribution revealed that 90 per cent of immature stages contributed for crop damage. The life expectancy revealed that the expected days of larvaefed Bt-II hybrids was decreased during early days compared to Bt-I fed larvae. Among the 12 hybrids tested, the negative effect of Cry toxins on the pest was highest in RCH-134 Bt-II. The Bt-II hybrids demonstrated significantly negative effect on 51 litura during early stages of crop, i.e. during 60-90 DAS of crop, as the crop matured the Cry toxin content decreased.
