Adaptability assessment of CGMS based pigeonpea hybrids

摘要

Cytoplasmic genie male sterility based eight pigeonpea hybrids were evaluated for their yield performance over eight environments in Gujarat. Hybrid SKNPCH 10 (Mean=1763 kg/h, b=1.23, S~2_(di)=0.09) followed by SKNPCH 3 (Mean=1698 kg/ha, b=1.16, S~2_(di) =0.09) and SKNPCH 6 gave maximum grain yield with high stability. These hybrids also showed average response with high stability for pods/plant, primary branches/ plant, seeds/pod, pod length, days to flower and days to maturity. The hybrid SKNPCH 5(Mean=1644 kg/h, b=1.36, S~2_(di)=0.02) gave better performance in good environment indicating environment responsiveness. SKNPCH 2 was found to be unstable for yield, pods/plant, pod length and plant height. Thus, hybrid SKNPCH 10 which is high yieldingwith stable performance over environments could be exploited for commercial cultivation in Gujarat to increase pigeonpea production and productivity.
