摘要

The perception regarding quality of healthcare has been changing with change in the technologies and socio-economic development. While rising incomes and growing literacy is likely to drive higher per capita expenditures on healthcare, shift in disease profiles from infectious to lifestyle-related diseases are expected to raise expenditure per treatment. Health in India is a sated subject with more than two-diirds of the health institutions in the government sector. These institutions can be characterised by the lack of equipment, non-compliance to the standards, lack of motivated staffs, poor staff-patient relationship, and so on. The purpose of the study is to examine and assess the quality of healthcare and sustainability of quality of a state-owned tertiary care hospital. It also provides a framework for the implementation of sustainable quality efforts in such hospitals.
