NANCY PETRY died of breast cancer on Tuesday, July 17, 2018. She was a 49-year-old no-nonsense intellectual powerhouse whose infectious giggle, biting wit, disarming persona, and petite stature belied the kind of scientific acumen and genius for applied behavioral research that set her apart from ordinary mortals. She came to the University of Connecticut School of Medicine in 1996 following a stellar postdoctoral training fellowship at the University of Vermont. She was actively recruited into the Department of Psychiatry's Alcohol Research Center, mainly because we could see that she was going to be a star.
