摘要

The correlation between uniaxial magnetic anisotropy and tetragonal distortion in FeCo films was studied. A strong uniaxial magnetic anisotropy was observed in Fe_(1-x)Co_x and (Fe_(1-x)Co_x)_(1-y))(Al, Ga)_y films with thicknesses of 1.5—3 nm. The magnetic anisotropy depends on the c/a ratio and exhibits a maximum of ~2×10~7 erg/cm~3 around c/a~1.2. The dependence of K_(u1) on c/a and composition x agree well with the expectation by 1~(st) principles calculations, which suggests that the strong uniaxial magnetic anisotropy found in FeCo thin films is attributable to the tetragonal distortion. Hysteresis curves of FeCoAl dot patterns with dot diameter (d=30-100 nm) were measured. Coercivity appears below 100 nm and reaches 4 kOe at d=30 nm. Due to its high saturation magnetization, high Curie temperature, and high magnetic anisotropy, the tetrago- nally distorted FeCo shows great promise for practical applications to permanent magnets, recording media, and spintronic devices.
