The high ambient temperature (HT) of summer causes thermal stress on humans, leading to health issues such as cardiovascular disease, myocardial damage, heat exhaustion, heat stroke, and even heat-related deathゆ,as well as having negative effects onanimal production3'4). HT is intensifying due to increased global warming5). Poultry meat and eggs are a good source of food containing high-quality protein and low levels of fat61. Poultry meat is one of the most widely eaten meats across the world andmakes up about 30% of total meat production worldwide7'. However, chickens are very sensitive to heat stress compared with other animals as they have a relatively high metabolic rate and lack sweat glands8). It has been reported that heat stress causeseconomic loss, with particular emphasis on Japan and the United States9'10).
