Sustainability is becoming increasingly important to our communities, and building "green" is now a driving force in the marketplace. Recent economic surveys conducted by the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASIA) confirm this trend. More than 70 percent of the landscape architects surveyed report client interest in sustainability issues, including stormwater management and water- and energy-conserving features. But unlike buildings, there are currently no rating systems to guide sustainabledesign, construction and maintenance at landscape sites.
