摘要

This year's Tutzing symposium,organized by the Young researchers'biotechnology network of the DECHEMA(Society for Chemical Engineering and Biotechnology),hosted a series of outstanding lectures addressing the various levels of biological complexity at molecular,cellular,tissue,and finally,societal levels.The conference investigated the concepts and techniques of modelling and engineering of biological systems that are currently flourishing particularly in the fields of systems and synthetic biology.Since specifically synthetic biology works outside natural evolution and the outcome of that research will be applied for various medical and industrial purposes,a suitable way of communication has to be found that guarantees knowledge transfer to the society and an honest discussion of the risks and opportunities connected to this.
