Three of five county commissioners have threatened to reconsider their support for Molly Raphael as director of the Multnomah (Oreg.) County Library because they believe the $138,000 salary offered to her by County Chairwoman Diane Linn is too high. Although Raphael--currently earning $129,000 as director of the District of Columbia Public Library--formally accepted the position and is scheduled to begin November 24, the county charter requires consent from a majority of the commission to makethe appointment permanent.
