This paper describes the applicability of information on microtremors to the assessment of the dynamic amplification property of surface grounds and buildings in Kusatsu area, Japan. Dynamic amplification property of microtremors at 13 sites were identified by analyzing their spectra and spectram ratios between at H component and V component by a comprehensive method. Further study was carried out to investigate the dynamic amplification property of the above-mentioned areas by using a computer program.
