摘要

Light-harvesting complexes of green photosynthetic bacteria, called chlorosomes, were investigated by an atomic force microscopy (AFM). Ellipsoidal particles about 200-250 nm in length and about 150-200 nm in width, which were ascribed to chlorosomes, were successfully visualized, after depositing a 20-50 nm thick carbon amorphous layer. The deposition of a carbon layer is necessary for fixing of chlorosomes on the surface of a quartz plate. The filtration of a buffer solution used is also important to clear visualization of chlorosomes.
