摘要

Communications Research Laboratory and National Space Development Agency are now developing a highly sensitive submillimeter-wave limb emission sounder JEM/SMILES to be installed on the Japanese Experiment Module of the International Space Station (ISS). We succeeded in showing the good performance in key technologies such as compact mechanical 4 K refrigerator, SIS mixer, and frequency selective polarizcr as a new type of single-sideband filter. We are now in the design phase for the flight model of JEM/SMILES. In the design we pay special attention for realizing highly sensitive receiver under the severe environmental condition of the ISS.
