Despite of the whiff of a rebound in aluminium prices in the first quarter, aluminium prices over the last six months have been underwater. It has been a tough period for aluminium producers. As the immediate term outlook for prices remains subdued at best, the majority of producers have adjusted their business strategies towards cutting costs and outputs, through phasing out their high-cost units as well as gradually relocating their production bases towards the low-cost regions (where possible).
