Shell and Linde are partnering on the development and commercialization of ethane-oxidative dehydrogenation (E-ODH) technology for the production of ethylene as an alternative route to the steam cracking of ethane. The companies say they will collaborate on the catalytic technology process after having worked separately on the development of E-ODH for a number of years. The process can signifcantly lower overall carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions through the electrifcation of power input, and also ofers acetic acid coproduction, they say.
