Integrated plant nutrient supply for export quality cut flower production in LA Lilium 'Nashville'

Lilium (Lilium spp.) is one of the high value crops fetching higher return per unit area, valued for its fascinating cut flowers this bulbous flowering plant is grown all over the world. Being a cost and input intensive crop, Integrated Plant Nutrientsupply serves as the economic imperative solution not only to minimize the cost of cultivation but also maintain its productivity. Therefore, a field experiment was carried out to evaluate the impact of combined application of azotobacter, PSB, vermicompost and nutrient solution on LA Lilium 'Nashville' in the Dept. of Floriculture and Landscaping, Biotechnology- Tissue Culture Centre cum, College of Agriculture Orissa University of Agriculture and Technology, Odisha, India. The experiment was conducted with 16 treatments and 4 replications following Randomized Block Design. The treatments consisted recommended dose of fertilizers N:P:K at 3:8.5:2.25 g plant1, soil application of vermicompost, azotobacter and PSB at 2 g plant1 each, foliar applicationof MS macro at 100 mL L1, MS micro at 10 mL L1 and MS vitamins at 1 mL L1 in 16 different combinations. The result of the investigation revealed that maximum plant height (95.88 cm), number of leaves (92.31) resulted from application of RDF, vermicompost, Azotobacter, MS macro, MS micro and vitamins (T13). Least days for bud break (46.36), maximum bloom life of whole spike (17.59), maximum number of effective roots (17.05), maximum bulb weight (65.72 g) and maximum bulb circumference (17.71 cm) resulted from application of RDF, PSB, Azotobacter, MS macro, MS micro and vitamins (T15). Least days took for first flower appearance (47.37), maximum number of flowers (4.37) and maximum flower length (11.23 cm) resulted from application of RDF, vermicompost,Azotobacter, PSB, MS macro, MS micro and vitamins (T16). T15 was found to be most satisfactory treatment for quality production of LA Lilium hybrid 'Nashville'.
