Based on the expansion of the counting function of the prime numbers in terms of the zeros of the Riemann zeta function, several aspects of the fluctuations of the primes are reviewed and further developed. In particular, the average density-density pair correlation, and the moments and autocorrelation of the fluctuations of the counting function are considered. The Riemann hypothesis is assumed throughout the paper.
