Bayer CropScience and its Chinese production joint venture, Bayer Cropscience Hangzhou, have lost a six-year patent infringement lawsuit for the insecticide, fipronil, against Chinese agrochemical company Anhui Huaxing Chemical. In a final verdict, the People's High Court of Tianjin rejected Bayer's appeal, upholding an earlier ruling in favour of Anhui Huaxing by the First Intermediate People's Court of Tianjin. Bayer is responsible for paying legal and security fees amounting to Yuan 299,120 ($43,851 at the current rate).
