The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has published a defence of crop protection products and the increasing amount of pesticide approvals in the country.The Brazilian Ministry of Agriculture has published a defence of crop protection products and the increasing amount of pesticide approvals in the country. The defence is aimed at the public and comes in the form of FAQs and a webcast on the Ministry’s website, and has been followed up by a speech from acting Minister Marcos Montes at an industry forum disabusing the public of “disinformation” on agrochemical use on Brazilian food. The Ministry emphasises that it does not work alone in the analysis of pesticide applications or in registering products, but along with two other agencies that assess toxicology and environmental effects of products.
