Today, as in the past, coffee growing is still a major source of income for many Latin American and African countries. Although it is generally grown on plantations, coffee production in mixed cultures on small farms has been gaining in importance for some years now. This type of farming system is particularly suitable for organic agriculture, and offers farmers an interesting alternative source of income when they adhere to the directives and regulations governing organ ic farming.
