摘要

The mammalian transient receptor potential (TRP) cation channel superfamily is classified into six subfamilies with high-sequence similarity (56). One of them, the TRPV (vanilloid) subfamily is divided into two groups, TRPV1-4 and TRPV5-6, based on their sequence homology (17). The channels belonging to the former group present temperature-evoked currents when they are expressed in heterologous cell systems. TRPV2 was identified by two research groups (5, 29) as a homotetra-meric N-glycosylated protein that is located within intracellular membrane compartments under physiological conditions (56). TRPV2 channels undergo [Ca]2+-dependent desensitization, which is highly reliant upon changes in membrane phosphati-dylinositol 4,5-biphosphate (PIP2) (46).
