A land sculpture of a giant reclining woman built by a mining company has won a major award for its public accessibility. Northumberlandia, also known as the Lady of the North, was built by mining and property firm Banks Group and the Blagdon Estate.They spent ?3m on the mounded creation, which took two and a half years to build from 1.5 million tonnes of clay and soil from Banks' adjacent Shotton surface mine.
