During the Covid-19 pandemic Scottish Government regulations permitted leaving home for up to one hour each day in April. As a tree lover, my favourite places for exercise at this time were the unofficial woodland paths adjoining the street where I live. My typical route is shown by a dashed red-arrow line on the map in Figure 1 (not to scale), and I was inspired to draw and paint the trees along the way.The various tree-growing objectives of three neighbouring landowners are described below. The notes are not learned; it was a way of passing six to eight weeks of dry sunny weather when there was little else one was allowed to do.This research and creativity kept me enthusiastic during lockdown.
