摘要

Two liverworts, Porella perrottetiana (Mont.) Trev. (Porellaceae) and Pellia neesiana (Gott.) Limpr. (Pelliaceae) have been described and illustrated from Uttaranchal in western Himalaya. The liverworts or the Hepatic flora of the Western Himalaya, comprising about 235 species belonging to 77 genera and 40 families, is comparatively well documented in Indian bryology (Kashyap, 1929, 1932; Singh, 1997, 2001). The region represents one of the three major bryodiversity centres of the country and ranks third in the richness and diversity of liverworts after the eastern Himalaya and the Western Ghats (Singh, I.c.). A study on recently collected specimens of liverworts from different parts of Uttaranchal revealed the presence of two interesting species viz. Porella perrottetiana (Mont.) Trev. belonging to family Porellaceae under the order Jungermanniales and Pellia neesiana (Gott.) Limpr. belonging to family Pelliaceae under Metzgeriales. While the former had so far been known in Indian bryoflora from western Ghats alone (Udar and Shaheen, 1983), the latter was merely listed by Kashyap (1929) from Western Himalaya without any description or locality. Subsequently the species has also been enumerated from Sandakphu in Darjeeling subdivision of West Bengal in eastern Himalya (Hattori, 1966), again without any taxonomic description and illustration. The two species are, therefore, described and illustrated to facilitate their easy identification.
