In patients with severe persistent asthma that is inadequately controlled by inhaled cortiosteroids, dupilumab has a modest effect on the frequency of exacerbations. In some patients, treatment with dupilumab can lead to a reduction in the dose of oral corticoste-roid. Its efficacy seems similar to that of the anti-lgE or anti-IL-5 monoclonal antibodies used in this setting, and its adverse effect profile does not appear to be better. There were too few adolescents included in the trials to identify potential adverse effects specific to this age group.
