Levetiracetam is an antiepileptic drug authorised for use in adults and in children aged 1 month and older (1).In early 2016, the European Medicines Agency (EMA) reported 27 cases of accidental overdose linked to Keppra0 oral solutions. Outcome was favourable in all cases (2).Keppra0 oral solution 100 mg/ml is available in three presentations: a 150-ml bottle with a 1-ml syringe graduated every 0.05 ml, for infants aged 1 month to less than 6 months; a 150-ml bottle with a 3-ml syringe graduated every 0.1 ml, for children aged 6 months to less than 4 years; and a 300-ml bottle sold with a 10-ml syringe graduated every 0.25 ml, for adults and children aged 4 years and older (3). The appropriate age range is clearly stated in colour on the boxes and in small print on the bottles, but it is not mentioned on the syringes (3).
