Over this last quarter much of the focus has been on the European nations as analysts around the globe contemplate the repercussion of the demise of the euro. With the exception of Spain, most of the world's largest economies are expected to return to growth. Spain has struggled to escape recession and its GDP data has declined again the fourth quarter, marking the sixth consecutive quarter of declining GDP output. To date Spain's economy has shrunk approximately 4.6% from its peak in 2008. Germany however has contracted more than 6.5% from peak to trough while France has declined 3.1%. Both countries however are expected to return to growth this year.
