Global demand is still the main factor promoting flats production in Ukraine.Notwithstanding fiercer competition with CIS producers, low production costenabled steel plants to boost supplies in Q1, which is likely to result in a 5%yearly gain in exports. Due to complicated political situation in the MENAregion, the largest consumer of Ukrainian flat products, exports will decrease inH2. Meanwhile, the share of exports in the output will shrink to 67%. It ismainly the expansion of plate capacities in Russia that will entail a decline inthe aggregate sales of Ukrainian flat products to foreign consumers as early asin mid-2012.
