摘要

As senior responsible owner for implementation of the Human Transplantation (Wales) Act 2013,1 cannot support Sharif's radical policy alternative (Personal view, 24 October). Prioritising people on the organ donor register goes against the principles of an NHS accessible to everyone and priority for those with greatest need. Most people in Wales support organ donation but only a third have registered to donate. We believe that movingto an opt-out system that views people as willingdonors unless they state otherwise will provide the revolution in consent rates needed to increase donor numbers.
