To study the effect of nitrogen and phosphorus on growth, seed yield and nutrient uptake of Canola gobhi sarson (Brassica napus L.), a field experiment was conducted at Oilseed Research Farm, PAU, Ludhiana. Plant height increased linearly with successive increment in nitrogen levels at all crop growth stages. Flowering time occurred earlier with nitrogen application, whereas maturity was delayed with increasing nitrogen levels upto 150 kg N/ha. Yield contributing characters like number of primary and secondary branches and siliquae per plant increased significantly upto 125 kg N/ha. Highest seeds per siliqua were also obtained in 125 kg N/ha. Seed yield of 22.71 q/ha was obtained with 125 kg N/ha which was at par with 150 kg N/ha but significantlyhigher than 100 kg N/ha. Total nitrogen uptake in Canola increased significantly with 150 kg N/ha. The optimum dose of nitrogen on basis of economics was found to be 125 kg N/ha. Growth, yield contributing characters and seed yield of Canola were not influenced by the phosphorus application, whereas phosphorus uptake was increased significantly upto 30 kg P_2O_5/ha.
