摘要

FROM 1 April, some Feed-in Tariff payments made to farmers for generating electricity will drop by as much as 20 per cent. That's because a rush of installations - principally wind and biogas - have been pre-registered meaning the amount of electricity generated will burst through the threshold set by the government.OFGEM assesses the amount of registered wind, hydro and anaerobic digestion projects on an annual basis, with the FiT dropping as installed capacity rises. The speed of solar installations means rates are cut quarterly. The NFU's chief renewable energy and climate change adviser, Dr Jonathan Scurlock, says that despite the cuts - which were anticipated many months ago - there are still solid investment opportunities out there."Solar is reasonably comfortable with where it stands because the supply industry is reducing costs at around the same speed that the government is triggering cuts in the FiT," Dr Scurlock said.
