In October 2006, I led a scientific expedition on a 35-day rafttrip down Ethiopia's Omo River, known by many as the African Queen of rivers. The trip comprised 17 photographers, journalists, researchers and naturalists. The river and the surrounding region are virtually untouched by modern technology, and are famous as one of the African continent's most remote regions.
