The Labor Department has issued a final rule permitting states to require unemployment compensation (UC) applicants to take drug tests and to identify occupations that the Secretary of Labor has determined regularly conduct drug testing. The final rule will be effective 30 days after its scheduled publication in the Federal Register on October 4.
