Chinese regulators have drawn up a list of about 500 small steel producers that fell to meet its strict new production- standards, and may start closing down many of the companies next year. The National Development and Reform Commission revealed details of the kind of production facilities it wants to eliminate earlier this week, including small electric arc furnaces blast furnaces and converters. The NDRC has identified about 500 companies using these technologies, though it has not decided whether it will publicise the list of names. "We will definitely eliminate the backward production facilities we listed out in our announcement," the NDRC official said.
