To improve the accuracy in relating differential scattering cross sections to the measured count rates, when a finite target and detector (and possibly source) allow a range of scattering angles to be admitted, we have developed a method of weighing the angular variation of d sigma/d OMEGA. A Monte Carlo code generates a distribution of the possible scattering angles, simulating all allowed trajectories from source to target and then to detector. Directions are uniformly distributed so as to impose no a priori physical constraints except those due to geometry: source, target and detector positions and dimensions, and also all collimation of the beams. The resulting histogram of allowed scattering angles is used as weight function.
