The world of management places extraordinary demands on leaders. To meet these demands we need leaders who are self-aware, emotionally intelligent and possess a quality that researchers have described as "positivity". Positivity can have a profound impact on personal resilience, life experience, and leadership. Research shows a person who can sustain a high ratio of positive to negative emotion is likley to be more creative, more optimistic, more confident, more able to learn, more socially connected and more productive. They will have greater resilience, better health and (some studies suggest), may live between five to 10 years longer. These are profound benefits that have a great deal of relevance to leadership.
