摘要

Jaraman is the Aboriginal word for seahorses which are on every label of Taylor's wine. You might ask, 'why the hell would you put seahorses on your label?'. The reason is, when we established the winery back in 1969, my grandfather, who was a man from the land originally, said, 'if the family are going back to the land' —we were hoteliers before that — 'we must build a dam, particularly as South Australia is such a dry state in the driest continent of the world'. As we dug into the terra rossa soils, we found fossilised seahorses in the limestone. They were from the original inland sea that covered the area many millions of years ago. So, in that limestone was a sign of good luck. When we were setting up the business we decided to use three seahorses to represent the three generations of the Taylor family.
