Earlier this year, alternative energy became a source of contention in the least likely of places, windswept Wyoming, USA. At issue was whether companies setting up operations in Wyoming to generate electricity from the state's near constant winds would be taxed for their efforts. A new law levies an excise tax on wind energy production, the first such tax in the United States.
