Spot product prices slid in the week to July 20. Moderate demand was not enough to overcome stockbuilds and imports. Ultra-low-sulfur diesel differentials were pressured by the report of ARA gasoil inventories rising, but they had received some support from a build of similar volume in US middle-distillate inventories. Low water levels continued to subdue activity along the Rhine River and Danube River supply routes, although overall demand throughout the region was said to be strengthening. Storage economics have been perking up since forward demand cover has been low. Diesel cracks showed some improvement on Wednesday and Thursday, but then reports of an upcoming influx of shipments from Asia into Europe flattened out the growth. Benchmark diesel refining margins showed some strength, reaching $13.0958/bbl on Thursday.
