While the Democrat party will retake the House of Representatives in Jan.,potentially countering US President Donald Trump’s energy agenda,many states had referendum questions on their ballots that showed widespread support for energy industry efforts.The Democrats are expected to oppose plans to reduce restrictions on GHG emissions or to weaken other environmental regulations,and they will likely intensify scrutiny over the EPA and tie Interior Department.They are also expected to attempt to roll back Mr.Trump’s plan to expand offshore drilling and to stop his attempted roll-back of Obama-era regulations.Since the House will be controlled by the Democrats and the Senate by the Republicans,major legislation that does not have bipartisan support is not likely to be passed.Some observers say infrastructure could be of interest to both parties,but funding expensive projects could become a batde.
