The newly seceded nation is ready to negotiate a deal with its northern neighbor over an ongoing oil dispute that resulted in Southern Sudan ceasing crude production in Jan. South Sudan, which has averaged 350K b/d of production, has accused Sudan of stealing $815MM worth of its crude supplies, but Sudan claims that this was crude was taken as payment for fees incurred by South Sudan for using its export pipeline. According to South Sudan's Cabinet Affairs Minister, "Definitely we will discuss the oil, and if there is an agreement on the use of the pipeline again through the territory of Sudan we will do that. (But) South Sudan will continue to pursue plans to build alternative pipelines."
