Missan Oil Company [Editor's note: whose name is sometimes spelt Maysan Oil Company], has completed the construction of a small airport in the Halfaya region. The aim is to facilitate the work of oil companies operating in the region, which has proven hydrocarbon potential. According to the Iraqi Oil Ministry, which disseminated this report [Editor's note: Missan Oil Company is a state-owned company attached to this Ministry], the involvement of foreign companies in this region, especially PetroChina and CNOOC, has already boosted its crude oil production by over 100,000 barrels/day. And the region's output could reach 1 million barrels/day by 2017, according to the same source.
