Mexican construction frm Fermaca has won a 25-year contract with state-owned utility CFE to build, operate and maintain a 600km, 1.19bn ft3/d (12.3bn m~3/yr) natural gas pipeline. The contract was awarded on 16 March. Fermaca’s $372.5mn offer was 71pc below the maximum amount that CFE was willing to pay for the project. The Laguna-Aguascalientes pipeline, which is due to start operations in January 2018, will cross the states of Durango, Zacatecas and Aguascalientes. It will link up with the $530mn El Encino–La Laguna gas pipe- line, which Fermaca is building, and the $962mn Villa de Reyes–Aguascalientes- Guadalajara line — a contract for which will be awarded on 29 March.
